Canberra police have charged a 22-year-old man with drink-driving after the learner driver allegedly knocked over a steel light pole in the centre of a roundabout while driving unsupervised.

Police said officers came across the single-vehicle crash on Luxton Street, Belconnen, about 3.30am on Saturday.
The vehicle involved was extensively damaged, police said.
The driver, who held a Queensland learner’s permit, was taken to Belconnen Police Station for a breath analysis and allegedly returned a result of 0.144.
He has been charged with drink-driving, driving as an unaccompanied learner driver, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, not displaying L-plates, and reckless driving offences.
He was granted bail and will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
ACT Policing said the incident was a reminder to L- and P-plate drivers that they must have a zero blood-alcohol level behind the wheel, and that learner drivers must be accompanied by a full licence holder in the front passenger seat.
