Voices in the Forest provides for another magical evening at the National Arboretum Canberra on Saturday, November 21

He will be one of the stars of the Voices in the Forest concert which will be held at the National Arboretum Canberra on Saturday, with fine, pleasant conditions predicted including a top temperature of 25 degrees,

Gates open at 2.30pm, with the concert starting at 5.30pm.

Australian soprano Cheryl Barker, Argentinian-born Australian baritone José Carbó and Torre are the stars of the show.

The program will also feature the Voices in the Forest Youth Choir made up of Canberra's best young singers and the Voices in the Forest Opera Chorus, one of Canberra's leading adult choirs.

Artistic director Chris Latham said the program was designed to appeal to both opera lovers and novices.

"The great thing about Voices in the Forest is the variety of music that the audience will get to hear," he said.

"We select well-known and loved arias, this way people don't have to sit through storylines and songs they don't enjoy.

"What they will experience is the very best songs, which they've usually heard before, but performed live in an outdoor setting by the best vocal talent in Australia at the moment."

Event organiser Bob Winnel, chief executive officer of Village Building Company, said he was proud to have been involved in Voices in the Forest for the past five years.

"This is an event for everyone," Mr Winnel said.

"We see whole families attend. Mums and dads sit back and enjoy the music with the grandparents, while the children take advantage of the kids' activities held in the Margaret William Pavilion.

"If you have not yet had the opportunity to experience opera, or you would just like to revisit the classic, this is the perfect chance for you to do so in your own backyard. It is a performance not to be missed."
