Canberrans headed out in droves to this year's Royal Canberra Show, as the lines of traffic backed up for kilometres on Saturday.

Once they made it inside, the show had something for everyone.
Organisers were clearly trying to strike a balance between the traditional roots of the show, and popular entertainment to attract newcomers.
Shows of the past may not have had a Nerf gun battle zone or a Onesie World stand, but this year's event had all of that and the classics, from baking and vegetable judging to all manner of animal exhibits.
Woodchopping returned to the show after an absence last year, and some of Australia's best woodchoppers, both men and woman, were in town to show off their strength and skill.
For Braidwood's Maddi Bennett, who took out second place, woodchopping is in her blood.
She picked up woodchopping at age 10 when her father, an Australian champion, was competing.
"I just got sick of watching on the side," Ms Bennett said.
Ms Bennett, who works at the Majors Creek goldmine, said with major national and international competitions now offering women's events it had encouraged more women to pick up the sport for a chance to represent their country.
"I think the hardest thing about it is the physical fitness you need," she said.
"It uses every muscle in your body - it's hard!"
Meanwhile, in Harvest Hall David Ross was showing off his green thumb.
Mr Ross began entering flowers in the Canberra Show with his wife in 1972. They grow all of their entries in their Cook garden.
This year Mr Ross took home the top prize in the general flowers category with his belladonna lilies.
Chief steward of horticulture at the show Glenn Sheldrick said there were about 10 people exhibiting flowers this year, with the number dropping little by little over the years.
He said some long-time exhibitors were getting too old to keep entering flowers and a lot of people just don't have gardens large enough anymore to grow the quantity of flowers needed.
But he said the flowers remained as popular as ever with people seeking a selfie or to tell the exhibitors they have better ones growing at home.
