North Canberra residents have been warned to avoid discoloured, smelly or strange tasting drinking water which may occur for a few hours as a result of works conducted in O'Connor on Tuesday by ACTEW Water.

In a statement, ACTEW Water apologised to customers in the suburbs of O'Connor, Turner, Lyneham and Braddon that are expected to be affected.
"The change in colour normally occurs when the natural sediment is disturbed within the pipes, causing the water to take on a brown or reddish colour," the statement read.
"Whilst it is difficult to predict to what degree the water will be affected, ACTEW Water advises that any discolouration will clear with normal use."
It also advised those experiencing discoloured water not use washing machines and dishwashers to prevent clothing stains and clogged filters.
