She welcomed the funding pledge and said she had approached the federal health department to get more information.

Health Minister Greg Hunt and ACT Senator Zed Seselja on Friday announced $52 million health package for the ACT ahead of Tuesday's budget.

The government pledged $13.5 million for a residential eating disorder centre and $13.5 million expansion of the intensive care unit at Canberra Hospital.

It also announced almost $10 million for youth mental health measures including a second Headspace centre for Canberra.

Ms Fitzharris said she was pleased to see a number of the projects the government put to the Commonwealth earlier this year funded.

She said she was particularly pleased the intensive care unit would be provided more funding for extra beds.

Ms Fitzharris said health ministers across the country would be looking for next week's budget to lift the Commonwealth share of hospital funding.

"States and territory of all stripes have said the commonwealth must deliver on this commitment," she said.

"I wait with bated breath to see next week's federal budget."

While Mr Seselja said he was working closely with the ACT Government to roll out the projects, Ms Fitzharris said she had no idea the announcement was coming.

"I really welcome it; would have loved a call to let us know this was coming," she said.

"All I know is what I've read in the paper this morning.

"I would have loved to get a heads up on it and I look forward to getting more detail from the federal minister as soon as possible."

The funding package also included $7.9 million for drug and alcohol addiction programs, including a community withdrawal support service run by registered nurses in partnership with doctors and other services.

More than $4 million will go to expanding and modernising alcohol and drug rehabilitation through community-based residential services, increasing the number of beds available.
