Michelle Keaveney was just 16 when she fell pregnant. Scared and unsure about what the future might hold, once she held her daughter Khloe she knew she had give her daughter the best chance.

For Ms Keaveney that meant going back to school, and when Khloe was just three months old, she enrolled at Canberra College in the CCCares program for young parents.
That was 2010 and now, six years down the track, Ms Keaveney is working and attending university, a busy mother of two daughters, Khloe, who's six and a half, and Mikayla, two and a half.
"I've got no idea what I would have done if I didn't go to that school," Ms Keaveney says.
"To be honest, it would have made it much harder to be where I am now.
"It just gave me the confidence and the support system I needed to realise that my life didn't have to be hopeless."
In 2012, Ms Keaveney graduated from Canberra College, with a Year 12 equivalent and vocational qualifications in hospitality. She's currently working in the kitchens at the Ainslie Football Club.
But her dream now is to become a registered nurse. When her father fell ill in 2014, Ms Keaveney was overwhelmed by the support he received from the staff at Canberra Hospital. He eventually passed away but his daughter knew then what direction her life would take. This year she enrolled in a nursing degree at the University of Canberra.
"I wanted to finish my degree and be working in the emergency department helping people."
Principal of Canberra College George Palavestra loves to hear the success stories of former students. While there is no formal alumni program as such, he says, the girls often pop back in to say hello, particularly when they've achieved things, graduating from university or the Canberra Institute of Technology.
"The success of the program has been its integrated nature here on the main campus," Mr Palavestra says.
"It used to be tucked away off site but to see the parents accessing the College, and the mainstream students accessing CCCares facilities, the students doing VET courses in childcare, for example, has been a highlight."
The CCCares program has been running for 12 years. In the early days, fewer than 10 parents were involved, it reached a peak of 170 in 2013 and this year 140 parents, including a handful of young fathers, have taken part. Nearly 200 babies, from birth through to preschool, are cared for in the world-class facilities that opened in 2015.
The CCCares program, and others like it around the country, owe a lot to the success of a similar program which was set up at Plumpton High, in Sydney's west.
A documentary, Plumpton High Babies, introduced us to Jacinta, Baby and Simone, and followed their experience through the early years at the school.
A follow-up, Plumpton High Babies: 10 Years On, catches up with three of the young mums from the original program to see what life is like for them in their 20s, and was due to screen on the ABC on November 28, before the broadcast was postponed.
Former principal Glenn Sargeant, who returns in the follow-up, has urged governments to expand the program into all schools. The young mothers program at the school closed down when he retired in 2004.
The number of babies born to mums aged between 15 and 19 dropped by 630 to 8574 in 2015, Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows.
In 2001, when the original Plumpton High Babies documentary was filmed, there were 11,704 babies born to teen mums.
