SYDNEY coach Paul Roos yesterday doused suggestions his spearhead Barry Hall may be headed to another club via a trade, even if the Swans are to chase West Coast star Daniel Kerr or any other high-profile player.

Hall is contracted to Sydney for next season but, at 31, he is hoping to gain an extension from the Swans who, at this stage, are not willing to give him a longer deal.
As a result, speculation arose this week linking Hall to the Western Bulldogs where he could be offered an additional year or two, but Roos said yesterday he expects Hall to be at the club next season, and even in 2010.
"I think with Hally, he understands where we are heading as a club, and I would think that Hally would play next year and the year after, that would be my gut feeling," Roos said.
"He's aware also that as a club there is a potential rebuilding move next year, and that we'll probably start out with the best intentions, but obviously with an eye to the future [and playing more younger players] like we did this year.
"Hally is a contracted player and a required player. We haven't heard from any other clubs that they are interested, and we want to keep Hally so that's where it's at.
"We want Hally to stay, we'll sit down with him depending on how he's going at the middle of next year, and that's what we've told him.
"If you wade through all the rumour and innuendo, you end up getting nothing done. At the moment, we have always seen Hally as part of our future and we still see him as part of the future next year so that hasn't changed at all."
The Swans were again linked to Kerr this week but Roos said all his club had done was approach Kerr's management and signal their interest should he not come to terms with the Eagles in their current contract negotiations.
Kerr is contracted to the Eagles for 2009, but is hoping to sign a four-year extension, something West Coast have baulked at. But speaking on Perth radio this week, Kerr said he hoped he could finalise a deal soon and stay at West Coast.
"I would imagine we would be getting it done in the next week or so, and hopefully we can come out and say it is all over and I am going to stay with the Eagles and finish my career here," Kerr told 6PR radio.
"I will have a chat to Colin Young [his manager] but I am still of the same mindset. We are going to sit down and work out a contract. In my perfect world I would like to see out my career as an Eagle and that is why I am seeking a longer contract."
To snare a player the likes of Kerr, the Swans would have to offer plenty in return, but Roos said he wouldn't have thought Hall would factor into one of those offers.
"You don't want to weaken your team in picking someone else up, that's for sure," Roos said.
"If you're going to start adding players to it, you want to make sure you're adding it to improve."
Roos has said the club would wait until trade week, early next month, before deciding who they will keep and who they will let go.
Only Peter Everitt and Ben Mathews have retired so far, with co-captain Leo Barry re-signing this week.
