In central Seoul, a display of statuettes portrayed each of the visiting VIPs in their national dress.
All except for Julia Gillard, who was dressed like a character from The Sound of Music.
Yep, she was dressed as an Austrian.
Austria is not a member of the G20 but neighbouring Germany is and the Gillard statuette was dressed very similarly to that of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. Ms Gillard was, at least, holding the right flag.
The display was situated at the end of a street renamed Global Street. Cement bollards on the footpath featured different nations and which of their major cities was a sister city to Seoul. For example, Paris.
Again, confusion reigned regarding Australia. Seoul's sister city was listed as ''New South Wales'' rather than the more accurate Sydney.
