A man who crashed 100 metres down an embankment while driving home from church survived thanks to "God's protection", a local pastor says.

The man's Toyota Corolla careered off Flaxton Drive in the Sunshine Coast hinterland on Sunday and crashed through dense bushland, before coming to a stop on its roof close to another steep drop.
The 35-year-old Mapleton man managed to crawl from the wreckage and drag himself about 20 metres back up the embankment before collapsing.
He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition with chest, back and abdominal injuries.
Mapleton pastor Mark Green, who is based at a church just north of where the crash happened, told Nine News the driver survived thanks to divine intervention.
“To hear that he’s awake and doing okay, it’s just God’s protection. It’s amazing,” Mr Green told .
Police said the crash happened at Montville about 12.30pm, with a witness saying the driver "veered to the left, corrected to the right and then left the road".
The car was wedged on a tree stump and was only stopped from continuing on down another "very steep drop" by tree trunks, police said.
Investigations were continuing.
