Papalii is enjoying career-best form for the Green Machine and stamped his name into Queensland coach Kevin Walters' book with a triumphant return for the Raiders in round 11.

It means the Raiders will once again be without their star forward for their clash with the Sydney Roosters at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.

Papalii was one of Queensland's best in the opening two games of last year's Origin series, playing an integral role as the Maroons wrapped up the shield with a match to spare.

The 25-year-old came of age in the Origin cauldron last year and his name will likely feature on plenty of Walters' team lists in the future.

Meanwhile Darius Boyd has beaten Billy Slater to Queensland's No. 1 jersey, with the returning veteran left out completely when the Queensland squad was announced in Brisbane on Monday afternoon.

The decision was labelled as one of the toughest selection calls in recent memory with Slater left out despite a glittering run of form since returning from a long-term shoulder injury.

The biggest change is that in the halves, with Brisbane Broncos five-eighth Anthony Milford in line to make his Origin debut after Johnathan Thurston was named as 18th man.

Thurston is next to no chance of recovering from a shoulder injury he picked up in the Anzac Test at Canberra Stadium earlier this month.
