Williams will miss four to six weeks of NRL action with medial ligament damage after he was carted off the field on a medicab during Canberra's win over the Canterbury Bulldogs on Thursday night.
Williams' absence could force Raiders coach Ricky Stuart into playing a third different starting halves combination this season with the door open for Blake Austin to earn a recall.
Austin will play for Mounties in the NSW Cup on Saturday with the clash looming as a genuine chance to prove his worth to the Green Machine.
