The official Green Machine arrived at Raiders headquarters on Friday and the new bus is part of coach Ricky Stuart's plan to recognise the past and recapture the glory years.

The sight of Mal Meninga, Laurie Daley, Gary Belcher, Bradley Clyde and Steve Walters arriving at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday will give Wests Tigers fans nightmares almost 30 years after the Raiders beat Balmain in the 1989 grand final.

But it's the blend of new and old that Stuart wants to inspire his players as they chase a club record 10th consecutive win in the last regular season game to kick-start their premiership bid.

"One of the things that really got me [to Canberra] was talking to Ricky and he wanted to build something like the Raiders had before and push to make our own memories," Hodgson said.

"It's great to be compared with the greats of the past. When you've got legends at the club like Mal Meninga, Laurie Daley, Ricky and more, it's a great confidence booster if you're compared to them.

"At the same time we want to be making a bit of history of our own and not be looking up to somebody, we want to create some memories so that people in the future look at us.

"We've got a good chance to do that. It's all in our hands and it's all about how well we play. We've got a great squad and a great team, if we don't do the business it will only be our fault."

The Raiders are preparing to play an unpredictable Tigers side whose their finals fate is likely to hinge on the result of the round 26 fixture.

The clash at Leichhardt Oval will be the perfect preparation for the intensity of the finals as the Raiders prepare to spend up to five weeks on the road.

To make their trip to and from Sydney more comfortable, Murrays Coaches have given the team a luxurious bus fitted with card tables and all the trimmings.

But the aspect Stuart kept secret from his players until Friday was that several of their photos would be on the side of the bus next to the club's greatest players.

"It something we can make our own," Hodgson said of the bus.

"When you look at the people who are on there, they're legends of the club and it's an honour to have your picture there too.

"To remember the past players and success of the club in years gone by is massive and instils a lot of pride, hunger and want to make your own stories.

"I just hope no one gets a texta and draws on my face [at Leichhardt Oval]."

The Raiders have won their past nine games to be in contention to finish second on the ladder.

If Melbourne beat Cronulla on Saturday and the Raiders topple the Tigers, Canberra will finish second on the ladder.

They have already secured their first top-four berth since 2003 and if they finish second it will be the first time since 1995.

The Raiders have won nine consecutive games just three times in the club's history and in two of those years they went on to win the premiership.

"The boys are pretty focused on the Tigers and hopefully we play well," said second-rower Josh Papalii.

"[Stuart] tells us all the time about making our own history and that's what we're trying to do. There's nothing wrong with being compared to previous Raiders teams.

"They've done great things and they've got three premiership rings, but we haven't. They've been there and done it, we need to get to that level."
