Boyd will be given a licence to throw his 122-kilogram frame head-on into a South Sydney Rabbitohs side led by English enforcer Sam Burgess at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has stuck with Boyd after the 21-year-old made an impressive starting debut in just his second first-grade game in last week's 24-12 loss to the Gold Coast Titans.

Former Kangaroos and Queensland prop Shillington also provided plenty of punch when he was injected off the bench in his first game back from a rib injury.

Boyd was used in short bursts in his 32 minutes of game time making 76 metres from 11 runs, while Shillington got through 124 metres in 17 carries in 49 minutes.

"It was a lot tougher than coming off the bench, a lot quicker, I was pretty knackered after 15 minutes,'' Boyd said.

"(He) threw me in there and I had to step up.

"(Souths) will be a good challenge, we've got some big boys, too, so it will be good to see where we are at.''

Boyd received his chance after injuries to Shillington and fellow international Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, who will make his comeback from an ankle injury with Mounties in the NSW Cup.

Former New Zealand Warriors winger Bill Tupou takes the place of winger Edrick Lee, who will see a specialist later this week to assess his foot injury.

Lock Shaun Fensom returns after a one-week suspension, Paul Vaughan moves to the bench and Matt McIlwrick is omitted.

The Rabbitohs welcome back five-eighth Dylan Walker and back-rower Chris McQueen, while George Burgess will contest a grade two careless high tackle charge at the judiciary on Wednesday night.

Fijian rookie Apisai Koroisau, who played four games at last year's World Cup, starts at hooker in place of Isaac Luke, who will miss up to 10 weeks with shoulder surgery.

The rampaging form of the four Burgess brothers - Sam, George, Luke and Tom - was a major reason why the Rabbitohs surged to the preliminary final last year.

However, they find themselves with the same 1-2 record as the Raiders after a shock loss to Wests Tigers last Friday night.

The form of Sam Burgess has been up and down since he announced his move to rugby union at the end of this season.

The Tigers successfully targeted the Burgess brothers to limit their influence, but Raiders veteran Brett White played down attempts to use that same blueprint.

"They're the benchmark in the NRL as far as forward packs go,'' White said.

"They're big and aggressive and they really stick it to other forward packs.

"We'll see what worked for the Tigers and have a look at that.''
