The Brumbies will fly to Hamilton on Thursday for the last game of the Super Rugby regular season in a clash against the Waikato Chiefs on Saturday.

They will make mass changes to their travelling party as coach Stephen Larkham rests players for the finals and gives others a chance to prove themselves.

The Brumbies haven't won a game in New Zealand since March 2014 and haven't beaten a Kiwi team since round one last year.

Former World Cup-winning coach Clive Woodward said the British and Irish Lions exposed cracks in the New Zealand rugby aura in a tied Test series, which finished last week.

Several Chiefs players were in the All Blacks side and would be mentally and physically drained after a five-week campaign.

But recalled Brumbies scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli says the ACT side is on alert for an "angry" reaction by New Zealand players when they resume their Super Rugby seasons.

"It can go both ways. Maybe they will come back with a lot passion after the result last weekend," Cubelli said.

"That can make you a bit angry, so it depends how they come out of that. They are also fighting for positions on the New Zealand Super Rugby ladder.

"So I don't think they will relax. They will be ready to go and so will we."

The Brumbies will make 12 changes to their starting XV when they finalise their team on Thursday.

Cubelli will be starting for the first time this year after injuring his knee in a pre-season game, while his back-up will be teenage rookie Ryan Lonergan.

Larkham has one eye on the play-offs given the Brumbies have already secured a home final on July 21 and will play either the Chiefs or Wellington Hurricanes.

The Brumbies were hit by season-ending injuries to Aidan Toua and Kyle Godwin last week, while Rory Arnold and Chris Alcock will be fit for the final after being ruled out of this week.

James Dargaville, Andrew Smith and Tom Staniforth are all in contention for starting spots.

"I think we're a pretty good team like that - we've got plenty of depth," Dargaville said.

"Everyone has been pushing each other at training and that's testing the starting team, so it's a next-man up mentality."
