Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham will speak with officials this week about plans for Jackson-Hope and Jooste and how to juggle their Brumbies commitments as well as preparations for the Under-20s World Cup.

The Brumbies back line has been hit by injuries and opened the door for Jackson-Hope to make his debut in the win against the Melbourne Rebels on Friday night, while Jooste was called in as a back-up.

Jackson-Hope showed his potential to set up the match-winning try with his first touch in professional rugby despite not even having a full-time Brumbies contract.

Jackson-Hope is on a development deal to train with the Brumbies, while Jooste is part of Larkham's squad.

Both have been picked to play for Australia at the junior World Cup in Manchester in June and are supposed to report for a team camp in Sydney on Wednesday.

But they have become valuable assets for the Brumbies ahead of a must-win match against the Japan Sunwolves at Canberra Stadium on May 28.

It is understood Larkham is keen to keep the pair in the Brumbies system until Super Rugby goes on hiatus after the Sunwolves match, and they would join the Australian team then.

Jackson-Hope, 20, was working part-time in a bar and studying at university this year before the Brumbies offered him a deal to train with the Super Rugby squad.

"I grew up idolising [Larkham] and Christian Lealiifano. To now be coached by one of them and play alongside the other hasn't sunk in, it feels like a dream," Jackson-Hope said.

"I didn't expect to have a chance to make my debut this year, but when the backs started dropping like flies with injuries I guess there was a chance. I thought I'd be the last option, but to have Bernie [Larkham] give me that chance, it means a lot to me that he backed me.

"I'm not sure what will happen with the Under-20s, I'll leave that up to others."

Jackson-Hopes debut capped off a massive week after a shoulder injury ruled him out of the Australian Under-20s win against New Zealand and then he was picked in the World Cup squad.

Jackson-Hope grew up dreaming of playing for the Brumbies and his family flew to Melbourne to watch the St Edmund's College graduate play his first game and he didn't disappoint in a 30-22 win.

"It's a very surreal feeling ... I was gutted when I got the shoulder injury in the Under-20s," Jackson-Hope said.

"But [Larkham] called me and said I needed to be on my toes in case there was another injury. I still didn't think it would happen, but Bernie [Larkham] put his faith in me.

"It was a massive call for him to put me on the field and I can't thank him enough for putting his faith in me. I'm super excited ... It's exciting times."

Jackson-Hope is part of an emerging crop of talented Brumbies juniors. Jooste is rated as one of Australia's best teenagers, while the Brumbies also boast rising players Tom Staniforth, Allan Alaalatoa and Joe Powell in their ranks.

All have played for the Australian Under-20s side in the past and are getting valuable experience in a Brumbies squad full of Wallabies.

Jackson-Hope and Jooste could be called on for the Sunwolves match if Robbie Coleman fails to recover from a hamstring problem.

Matt Toomua is also coming back from a knee injury but it's unlikely he will be fit to play against the Japanese side.

Jackson-Hope made headlines three years ago when he was sent off for a dangerous tackle in an Australian Schoolboys clash against New Zealand.

But his name was up in lights for a classy pass under pressure in a massive Australian derby against the Rebels.

Jackson-Hope threw a brilliant cut-out ball to winger Nigel Ah Wong, who scored in the corner and gave the Brumbies a match-winning eight-point lead.

"That's the beauty of the talent program you have ... Jordan has come a long way in two years and it was really special to see a kid next to me making me feel really old," said Brumbies co-captain Christian Lealiifano.

"He held his own and being a local guy as well, it's even more special for Canberra rugby. It's fantastic for the game.

"He's an inside back so I get to work with him quite closely. Seeing him develop has been special and I just have full confidence in the work he does. He's fit and super tough, he's only going to get better."
