Burrows was a shock omission from the Wallaroos' 15-a-side squad for the World Cup in Ireland in August given she's viewed by many as the best hooker in Australia.

The devastation of missing out on a chance to play at her fourth World Cup left Burrows shattered and in tears.

But just days after being named as a reserve for the squad, Burrows will restart when she plays for Royals against the Tuggeranong ViQueens on Saturday and has vowed to be ready if the Wallaroos need her.

Burrows, 39, insists she's not ready to walk away from the sport and believes she can keep improving.

"I'm not done. Not yet," Burrows said.

"I really struggled when I wasn't picked. I felt like I let my family down and so many people, and yeah I cried.

"But yeah, sometimes things don't go your way. I'll put my energy into playing for Royals. As much as I love playing for Australia, I love the grassroots side as well.

"If I do get a call up because of an injury, which you don't wish on anyone, I want to be there and ready to perform the best I can for my country.

"I want to play for Australia again. People have said to me I was unlucky to miss out and that I was done. But why do I have to be done?

"Even if I made the World Cup, I wasn't going to stop. I don't feel like I'm done, I still like I've got more to give."

Australian sevens captain and former Royals star Sharni Williams will make a 15-a-side comeback to play for the Wallaroos while Millie Boyle and Violeta Tupuola complete Canberra's trio of representatives.

They were the only three ACT players picked despite the side losing just one game - the grand final - at the national championships earlier this year.

Williams was devastated when Burrows missed out on selection, but said her absence would add extra motivation to her World Cup campaign.

Burrows is just focused on helping Royals chase another premiership in a top of the table battle against Tuggeranong at Viking Park.

"I had a knee injury last year and that slowed me down a little bit. But this year I feel fitter and faster, and that's helping me enjoy my rugby," Burrows said.

"As long as I'm enjoying my rugby, I'd like to keep playing. I still have a dream to play for Australia again one day and maybe I'll get there if I continue to work hard to make it a reality."

Meanwhile, Tuggeranong and Royals will clash in a men's first-grade clash as the teams battle for John I Dent Cup favouritism.

Royals are undefeated after nine games while Tuggeranong's only loss was against their Phillip-based rivals.
