The Brumbies' 29-10 victory over the Durban Sharks on Sunday morning announced their arrival as a competition force.

But exuberant celebrations were replaced with resolute silence as the determined Brumbies focus on their No. 1 goal - the championship.

The players belted out the team song, but instead of prolonged cheers and yahoos following their victory over the Sharks at Kings Park, the Brumbies were reminded ''we haven't achieved anything yet''.

The win was their seventh consecutive away victory - a feat no other team has achieved in Super Rugby's 18 seasons. And they became only the second Brumbies team to win in Durban, completely dominating a team laden with Springboks and last season's finalists.

Now the Brumbies are the only undefeated team in the competition after five weeks.

But in a sign that the new-era Brumbies won't be satisfied until they rise all the way to the top, celebrations were low key.

''We sat in the dressing rooms dead quiet,'' Brumbies captain Ben Mowen said.

''We spoke during the week that if we got our performance right we'd be busted and tired, but we'd be smiling. That's all we did - we were in the dressing room and it was very quiet and calm.

''We've got a motto: we don't get too high when we win or too low when we lose.

''That balance helps you perform consistently.''

The Brumbies got their South African tour off to a dream start in the vital clash with the Sharks.

Coach Jake White's men secured a bonus-point victory to send them 10 points clear at the top of the Australian conference and kept their perfect record intact this year.

They have won all of their games so far and conceded just two tries in four games.

If people and opposition teams didn't take them seriously before, they certainly do now.

A first-half demolition set up their win over the Sharks.

Before the match White described it as the biggest test for his players so far this season and it was their first match against an international opponent.

But playing in South Africa didn't faze the young Brumbies as they destroyed the Sharks in every area of the game.

Before the Sharks - previously unbeaten this year - had time to gather themselves, the Brumbies ran in four tries before half-time and the contest was all but over.

Jesse Mogg, Henry Speight, Joseph Tomane and Matt Toomua all got across the line while the forward pack walked all over the Sharks.

Dominating the scrum and general play is no feat to be taken lightly given the Springbok talent the Sharks have at their disposal.

But in a sign the plan to lift the club back to the top of the competition is on track, the Brumbies appeared to do it with ease.

Their winning streak on the road stretches to April last year when they toppled the Johannesburg Lions at Ellis Park.

Now they're the only team to stay unbeaten for seven games in a row.

Now the Brumbies are fully focused on making their South African tour a perfect trip by beating the Cape Town Stormers at Newlands this week.

''We have to be humble and not get ahead of ourselves,'' White said after the game.

''We're the only unbeaten side in the comp so people are going to take us seriously and teams are going to want to knock us over.

''The pressure never goes away, it's just about how you handle it … enjoy the pressure because that's why we're here.''

The first 40 minutes was almost perfect rugby. The Brumbies dominated everything.

In the past they've been accused of a simple and boring game plan, but the players threw the ball like it was a hot potato in a frenetic attacking style.

If the first half was perfect, the second half was all about guts.

Rain started to fall and the Sharks were trying desperately to get back into the contest. But the Brumbies showed poise under pressure to never really be threatened.

The Queensland Reds upset loss to the Western Force on Saturday means the Brumbies have a 10-point gap at the top of the Australian conference.

It's only five weeks into the season, but it's a start the Brumbies have been dreaming of.
