Just eight games into his tenure at the Brumbies, White only has a handful of roster spots available for his second year in charge.

And he's so confident the club is heading in the right direction he is expected to begin negotiations in the coming months with players off contract at the end of next season.

He is keen to fill at least two of the spots up for grabs with an experienced lock and an outside centre.

Following the re-signing of five players last week, rookies Jesse Mogg and Scott Fardy are on the verge of committing to new two-year deals, Nic White has agreed to a one-year extension and at least two other players are negotiating new contracts.

Mogg, Fardy and Scott Sio will be upgraded from the extended player squad to full-time contracts next season.

It leaves White with minimal room to move on his full-time roster.

The only confirmed departures are Ben Hand (France), Michael Hooper (NSW) and Jono Owen (Melbourne).

''It's not a case of what I think I need to add, the third year is when I think I will get the balance right,'' White said.

''Going forward I think we need a lock and a centre as the minimum, those are the positions we'll really look hard for. I'm going to look for older locks, a prop in my EPS who can play on both sides of the scrum.''

Christian Lealiifano, Matt Toomua, Henry Speight, Ruaidhri Murphy and Scott Sio all signed new two-year contracts last week.

And with most of his roster secure, it is understood White will begin trying to negotiate extensions for some players who are off contract at the end of next year.

White's major focus is on finding players to fill his ARU-funded extended player squad for next season. Four of the Brumbies' five extended player squad members have played Super Rugby this season.
