Speight will get his second chance in the Brumbies' starting XV in the match against the Waratahs on Saturday night and he's promised to repay the faith in his clash with Wallaby Drew Mitchell.
The Waratahs boast Test winger Mitchell and code-hopper Israel Folau on the edges in a dangerous attacking combination. But the Brumbies will bank on flying Fijian Speight's X-factor and Clyde Rathbone's experience to win the battle out wide.
Brumbies coach Jake White had no hesitation adding Speight back into the starting side after the 24-year-old injured his ribs in the opening round. Holding on to a spot in the back line is proving difficult and will get even harder when Pat McCabe makes a successful return from injury on Thursday night.
Speight has forced Wallaby Joseph Tomane back to the bench and, after scoring two tries in two matches against the Waratahs last year, the speedster wants more success.
''Having the injury and seeing how well [Jesse] Mogg was playing and Pat [McCabe] coming back, this weekend is a good chance for me to cement my spot and prove myself again,'' Speight said. ''I think we can match the Waratahs. They might have experience, but we've got some X-factor in our team. I'm not taking anything for granted, I like to think with hard work you get rewards and I'd like to think I've earned my place.''
