Smith has played just three minutes for the Brumbies in the past three months following back-to-back injury blows.

But the powerful outside centre made a successful comeback in club rugby last Saturday and is keen to show coach Jake White he is ready to be a part of the Brumbies' championship charge.

The Brumbies will unleash their best available team against the Lions on Tuesday with only Wallabies and injured players out of selection contention.

The Brumbies have eight players in the Wallabies squad, but Peter Kimlin and Scott Sio have been released to rejoin the ACT side for the clash against the Lions.

The only injury concern is prop Dan Palmer, who is battling a foot problem. Palmer will be ruled out of the team and White will call in a front-rower from club rugby, likely from Easts.

Smith is a likely inclusion among the backs with Pat McCabe dropping out to join the Wallabies camp.

Smith started the season as the Brumbies' first-choice No.13, but his absence has allowed Tevita Kuridrani to impress and cement his place in the starting XV.

''It's all about the team - I've just been working behind the scenes and if I'm needed I'll definitely be ready to play,'' Smith said.

''Tevita's playing really well and it's been great to see him develop into his role. I'm not sure what my role is, it's up to the coaches. If I'm needed I know I'm ready to go.''

Smith was knocked out in the Brumbies' game against the NSW Waratahs on March 9.

He was sent home from the tour of South Africa as he battled ongoing headaches.

The 28-year-old made his first comeback against the Otago Highlanders in mid April, but lasted just three minutes before tearing his hamstring.

Smith had been in the rehabilitation group until getting the all-clear to play for Easts last weekend.

His time out of the Super Rugby side was ''devastating'', but the pain was made easier by the birth of his first child, Harrison, six weeks ago.

''It was a funny period for me - the timing of it was all around that and I was in Canberra the whole time so I could help my partner with everything,'' Smith said.

''It was devastating and frustrating not to be playing but at least there was something else to concentrate on.''

Smith is one of a host of regular players set to bolster the squad for the last regular-season match on July 13, against the Western Force. The Brumbies beat the Melbourne Rebels last start without nine regular squad members.

Barring injury, the club's Wallabies representatives will return to the line-up, while George Smith (knee), Fotu Auelua (shoulder) and Nic White (shoulder) are also aiming to be available for the Force.

Brumbies flanker Colby Faingaa said: ''We've all seen the games and [the Lions] are big boys, there's no secret about that. It's just about fronting up and doing the job.''
