Mann-Rea was not expected to be needed for the Brumbies' clash with the Durban Sharks at Kings Park on Sunday morning.
But with Moore carrying a niggling back injury, the Brumbies flew him to South Africa in case they were left short in the specialist position. Mann-Rea had a knee reconstruction in November last year and only returned to the field two weeks ago.
Moore moved freely at training during the week. But given hooker is an extremely specialised role, Mann-Rea arrived just before the clash to add coverage.
Mann-Rea is on the Brumbies' extended player squad and has played Super Rugby for the NSW Waratahs in the past.
