White and the Brumbies are trying to lock in a deal to keep him in Canberra for at least two years.

And after playing through the pain of a dislocated shoulder almost every game last year, White hopes off-season surgery to repair the damage will help launch his Wallabies bid.

Brumbies coach Jake White is trying to sign some of his off-contract players before the team takes on the NSW Waratahs at Canberra Stadium on March 9.

Nic White has established himself as one of the most promising scrumhalves in Australia, but the Brumbies were also preparing to offer former Wallaby Luke Burgess a deal if the 22-year-old left Canberra.

''It was flattering and something to think about [with offers from Europe] … but I definitely want to stay in Australia, I want to play for the Wallabies and I want to go to a World Cup,'' he said.

''I'm really young, but I know it can be a short career … maybe one day further in my career I'd look at overseas. I feel like I haven't given it a good crack in Australia yet and this will be my first full season with my body at 100 per cent so I'm curious to see where it takes me.''

White helped launch the Brumbies' centenary jersey on Tuesday with the club to swap its navy and white strip for the traditional ACT colours for Canberra's 100th birthday.

The jerseys will be worn against the Waratahs before being auctioned.

At times last year White struggled to pull on his playing jumper as he battled through the season with a shoulder problem which caused regular dislocation.

He injured it before the 2011 pre-season started but opted against surgery to try to cement his place as the Brumbies' first-choice No. 9.

He succeeded and was rewarded for his bravery with selection in the Wallabies squad.

But with Will Genia playing 80 minutes while White sat on the bench, he decided to go for surgery to ensure he was fit for 2012.

But with new strength in his shoulder and plate in his jaw to repair a fracture after a king hit in November, White is willing to put his body on the line to chase his goals.

''My shoulder popped out most games, I wasn't worried about it and it was just a case of my arm would go dead for a couple of minutes,'' White said.

''Sometimes it would take four or five days to come good, it was about mentally trying to get up and if someone ran at the right shoulder I'd just have to dig deep and hope to God I stopped him.

''The surgeon assured me it's a really big plate in the jaw and that nothing will hold me back … I've had a couple of hits on it at training and it's fine.

''I'm enjoying being able to get out there and throw my body around without worrying about getting injured.''
