Angela Reakes played a lone hand with the bat for the Meteors in the 20-run loss which marked the ACT's second loss in as many days against the Victorians.
But they won't have to wait long for a chance at redemption with the Meteors set to begin their WNCL campaign against Victoria in a day-night clash at Manuka Oval on October 6.
Meanwhile, the Canberra Capitals nearly sprung an upset on defending WNBL champions Sydney in their final pre-season hit out.
The Capitals led by 7 points heading into the final quarter but came up short in a 72-69 loss to the fast-finishing Flames.
Lauren Scherf led the way for the visitors with 17 points, while teenage sensation Eziyoda Magbegor chimed in with 15 of her own.
The Capitals will open their season against Bendigo on their brand new National Convention Centre court on October 6.
