Needing a bonus point victory against Western Australia to keep their hopes alive, a destructive knock from captain Kris Britt and a splendid opening partnership got the Meteors to their objective with four balls to spare.

Britt smashed 91 from just 64 balls, Katie Mack provided great support with 85 from 109, and Jenny Taffs chipped in with 48 (58) as the Meteors (3-242) chased down WA's total of 6-240 at Manuka Oval on Saturday.

The Meteors now need to win their final 50-over game next weekend against Tasmania in Hobart and hope NSW defeats South Australia to squeeze into the top four.

Coming to the crease in the 18th over with the Meteors at 1-76, Britt upped the tempo from the outset with some aggressive hitting, clearing the rope four times, while Mack kept the scoreboard ticking over.

It was left to Kara Churchland to hit the winning boundary in the second ball of the 40th over to secure the bonus point.

It's been a tough summer for last season's Twenty20 finalists, but Britt knows her side is capable of turning it around.

"Hopefully we can do it again next week against Tasmania and play some finals cricket," Britt said.

"We were in a good position when I went in and we had a good foundation and we were always going after the bonus point.

"Myself and Katie Mack batted for a long period of time together, and my job was to get us within striking distance of the bonus point and she was going for the win, so we worked well together."

The Meteors did well to restrict the Fury below 250 after England captain Charlotte Edwards gave them a wonderful start with 84 off 99 balls.

The Meteors will be aiming to clean sweep the Fury in Sunday's T20 game. Play starts at 10am.
