The side also re-signed off-spinner Chris Green and last year's leading wicket-taker Clint McKay. Director of cricket Michael Hussey said he was keen to ensure the nucleus of the winning squad was retained.
"Aiden is one of the most experienced T20 batsman in the country, and we believe he will play an important role in the upcoming season."
Blizzard said winning the Big Bash was "right up there" with his career highlights.
"We had some success last year and I'd love to leave the game at some stage with some sustainability for the Thunder, I think they're well on their way to achieving great success."
