A pair of master blasters in Queanbeyan might have outdone the nation's heroes in the Cricket ACT Douglas Cup at Harrison Oval on Saturday.
Vele Dukoski and Michael Spaseski combined for a 202-run stand inside 18 overs to claim a stunning outright victory over North Canberra-Gungahlin.
Dukoski hammered an unbeaten 100* from 51 balls - including a remarkable nine sixes and four fours.
Queanbeyan captain Spaseski was just as damaging, scoring 95 from 54 balls with seven sixes and seven fours, before being bowled trying to hit a six with scores tied.
"[Vele] has always been like that, he has his days where he misses out but when he is on, he is on," Spaseski said.
"With guys like that you can take the good with the bad, because when he's good it's a match-winning effort.
"The boys yelled out I needed five to get my hundred. I had to hit a six, I went for it and got bowled. The game was over by then so it was good to get the outright win in the end, that was the main thing."
Queanbeyan began the day on 5-145 and in the box seat to secure a first innings victory before they crumbled to be all out for 191, falling seven runs short of the target.
Norths batted again before captain Rohan Wight chanced his arm with a gutsy declaration with a lead of 202.
He didn't count on the Queanbeyan openers to score 11.78 runs per over in a two-day match.
Moments after Spaseski was dismissed, Kel Evans came and went for a golden duck before Tyler Van Luin hit a boundary that saw the Bluebags finish on 2-206 in just 17.5 overs.
It was an afternoon to forget for the Norths bowlers - Liam Trevaskis finished with 0-62 from five overs, Sam Taylor took 0-46 from 4.5 and Wight went for 26 in one over.
"When we did get bowled out this morning we said an outright is still on the cards because the wicket was playing up a little bit," Spaseski said.
"It actually got a little bit better as the day went on surprisingly. We always thought an outright was on the cards but they batted pretty well and played out the majority of the day and we thought it's probably almost passed us.
"To our surprise they declared, gave us a little bit of a crack at it, and lucky enough we got there in the end."
Meanwhile, a lower-order fightback saw Ginninderra's finals hopes revived in a thrilling run chase against Eastlake at Kippax Oval.
Chasing 323, the Tigers looked in serious trouble when Jak Willcox joined Luke Ryan at 8-237.
Ginninderra still needed 15 runs when Willcox departed for 25, but Ryan (62*) and Jarryd Hatton (4*) secured a thrilling one-wicket first innings win late in the day.
