Better late than never. The Canberra Cavalry certainly subscribe to that theory after a nine-run final inning blitz helped them avoid a clean sweep of losses with an 11-4 win against Adelaide Bite on Sunday.

Having lost the previous three games of the series and staring at a 3-2 deficit, Canberra's offence exploded to improve its overall record to 9-11 and maintain fourth spot on the Australian Baseball League ladder.
Adelaide's fans were ready to break out their brooms, but it was a timely awakening by Canberra's batting line-up, which had combined for just six runs over the previous three games at Norwood Oval.
The Cavalry registered five hits in the final inning alone to stun the top-of-the-table Bite.
Cavalry manager Michael Collins hopes the revival puts a bit more spring in the step of his troops before they host bottom-of-the-table Melbourne Aces this week.
"It was a good performance, a good finish, and hopefully it's something that carries through into the coming weeks," Collins said.
"When you get swept it definitely makes for a tough week at practice, mentally more than anything.
"We had some moments where we showed some life and did some good things, but as a group we didn't quite swing the bats as good as we'd like [across the series]."
However, Collins said it was their defence which let them down, having conceded 19 runs and 36 hits before Sunday.
"Our defence was probably the killer this weekend. We probably didn't play the defence we're capable of playing," Collins said.
"If anything, it's going to be an eye-opener for the guys."
The Cavalry have a golden opportunity to break away from the chasing pack when it hosts the Aces, who prop up the league with a 7-12 record.
"On paper you always look at how the other teams' doing, but we won't be taking them any less seriously than anyone else," Collins said.
"It's a very tight competition and every series is equally important, regardless of who you play."
Star Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Grant Balfour will be on hand at Narrabundah Ball Park for the Saturday game of the Cavalry-Aces series.
The former American League All-Star will greet fans and present the Ambassador's Cup trophy to the ACT junior club with the most new recruits this season.
