Nick Kyrgios waiting on scans to get back on track

Nick Kyrgios will meet with a specialist on Sunday to determine his immediate playing future after scans revealed bone bruising in his back after his Australian Open campaign. Kyrgios could miss his next two tournaments and Australia's first Davis Cup tie of the year to allow his body time to recover after the intense strain of a quarter-finals appearance at the Open. He has been troubled for the past month by a back complaint that forced him to withdraw from the Hopman Cup and almost ruled him out of the Open. Kyrgios played through pain before losing in straight sets to Andy Murray in the quarter finals. Scans in Canberra on Friday showed the damage was no worse than it was before the first grand slam of the year. He is scheduled to play at Marseille and Dubai before the Davis Cup against the Czech Republic. He needs medical reports before he is able to pull out of any future tournaments. Kyrgios will use Canberra as a training base after flying back to the capital on Thursday. But spare a thought for parents Nill and George, who had to drive back to Melbourne with Kyrgios' massage table in their car.
