With seven victories from 11 starts, including this year's Wagga Town Plate, Got The Goss will be coming off almost a month's break in a Benchmark 85 Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Got The Goss hasn't raced since finishing sixth at Rosehill on May 30, having been scratched from a wet track at Randwick last weekend.

Another heavy track is on the cards for Got The Goss, which will have to come from barrier 22.

Trainer Trevor McIlwrick said he was pleased to have the experienced Shinn - who won the 2008 Melbourne Cup on Viewed - get the ride.

"(Got The Goss) has been to Rosehill twice and apprentices have rode him both times and I don't think he's a kid's horse," McIlwrick said.

"(Shinn) is a very good rider, he's up there with the best in Australia.

"It's a pretty hard race, he's drawn wide, track's a bit damp, he should be a rough hope you think."

Got The Goss finished 10th in a field of 11 runners in his first time at Rosehill in November, 2013.

After a fourth in Canberra a month later, he was spelled for more than a year before back-to-back wins in Wagga Wagga in April.

McIlwrick said Got The Goss showed positive signs in his most recent trip to Sydney.

"He's a funny horse, I think he prefers being wide in his races," McIlwrick said.

"There he got bottled up early.

"Once he got on the outside, he got home very good and was only beaten by two and a half lengths."

Got The Goss is a $12 chance on fixed odds with the TAB.

Meanwhile, Albury trainer Kevin Hanley collected a winning double in consecutive races at Thoroughbred Park on Friday.

Grand Dreamer ($7.50) took the victory in a Benchmark 60 Handicap (1600m) before Eklands ($9) claimed the Benchmark 70 Handicap (1200m).
