Canberra basketballer Harry Matthew will have another chance to further his career when he joins the Basketball Australia development camp at the AIS this week.

"Being invited is a huge accomplishment for me," Matthew said. "Making an Australian team has always been one of my goals and I feel like this is a kind of stepping stone towards that."
Matthew has impressed in the past 12 months and was rewarded with a shock call from the NBA Global Academy to play a pre-seasom game against the Illawarra Hawks.
He starred at the under-18s national championships last year and hopes to begin 2019 on a high, using the camp as a personal pre-season hit out.
"I enjoy how tough the competition is," Matthew said. "The stuff around Canberra isn’t too hard but competing against some of the best guys in Australia, you actually have to go in and prove yourself."
Having just returned from a trip to America with Basketball ACT’s national performance program group, Matthew was given a glimpse of college basketball and says that it definitely something he is striving for.
"It was great. We went on a few college visits and I thought that was pretty cool and definitely something I want to do in the future," he said.
"Seeing the difference in basketball from over there to here, the way they play is definitely different."
