The Capitals will have home court advantage for the first time this season when they meet the Adelaide Lightning at the National Convention Centre on Sunday.

Rocci has played more than 60 minutes out of a possible 80 in the opening two matches of Canberra's campaign in a rousing endorsement of how far she has come since last season.

The rising guard is only going to get better given she is learning from a championship winner in Kelly Wilson and an Australian Opal in Leilani Mitchell.

Mitchell is set to make her return against Adelaide on limited minutes with coach Paul Goriss adamant he will need the three-time WNBL all-star at the back end of the season.

It puts the onus on 20-year-old Rocci to continue to shoulder a heavy workload alongside Wilson, a player the Werribee product stuck to like glue during pre-season to absorb as much as she could.

"It’s been exciting to get the opportunity to get those minutes and play with the players I’m playing with, but I honestly don’t care about the minutes, it’s just about winning really," Rocci said.

"I watched [Wilson] and how she goes about things with training, and when she is on the court it’s just really good to watch.

"It’s good because it’ll develop my game as well, by watching her as well as playing against and alongside her at training and during games. I find it very helpful."

So helpful that Rocci has quickly stamped her mark on the competition this season to prove why she has long been earmarked as an Opal-in-waiting for a Capitals side looking to silence the doubters.

Whether Canberra can win enough games before they welcome back Marianna Tolo (due back on November 9 or 18) and Kristy Wallace (January) from injury has been the major question mark hovering over their campaign.

They have left no stone unturned in the opening two games to come away unbeaten and unscathed - but they've been here before.

As the Capitals look to back up a gritty seven-point victory over championship-contenders Melbourne on Friday night, Goriss may well be having nightmares about what transpired little over 12 months ago.

The Canberra mentor has quickly urged his side not to get too carried away given they were in the same predicament last year, when two opening round wins were followed by a 13-match losing streak.

But Rocci laughs he needn't worry about a new group being expertly steered around the court by Kelsey Griffin in the absence of co-captain Tolo.

"I think we’re well prepared this year, we’ve just got to go out there and play how we’ve been playing in our first few games and not worry about the fact we lost so much [last year]," Rocci said.

"It’s a completely different season now, a new group of girls and we’re ready to go. Kelsey Griffin has been amazing, just with the way she goes about things and the things she says before games to pump everyone up.

"It’s been really good to play with some veteran players that know the game and know how to win, and things to do when you need them."
