The ACT Meteors representative is hoping to help the Australia women's team collect its third straight Twenty20 title in Sunday night's final in Bangladesh against either England or South Africa.

Farrell rose to the occasion in Thursday night's thrilling eight-run semi-final victory against the West Indies, conceding just five runs and taking a wicket in the final over.

The 27-year-old finished with figures of 1-25 off three overs after going for 10 runs off the opening over of the game as Australia defended its total of 5-140.

"I was pretty calm to be honest. [Captain] Meg Lanning put the confidence in me to bowl the final over,'' Farrell said.

"I didn't get the team off to the greatest start bowling the first over of the bowling innings, so I probably owed it to the team to come through with the goods.

"I wasn't nervous at all, it was quite a calm and relaxed feeling, which a few people might have been shocked about.''

Farrell was a part of the Australian team which won the Twenty20 World Cup in 2010, but missed the 2012 tournament when she took some time away from the sport.

Impressive performances for the Meteors in the women's national cricket league led to Farrell winning back her place in the side for the Ashes.

The success of Australia's women's team at the T20 World Cup is in contrast to its male counterparts, who bowed out in the Super 10 stage after winning just one game.

"It was unfortunate they left this competition early, but they have done very well this summer,'' Farrell said.

"If we can add to their silverware they have brought home to Australia it will definitely be good for the country.''
