Warner is also relishing the prospect of feasting on another batsman-friendly Manuka Oval pitch and sending a message to the rest of the world.

Warner and Finch will continue to develop their devastating partnership at the top of the order in Sunday's one-day international against South Africa in Perth.

Providing the Aussies can complete a clean sweep of their games in Western Australia, they can then wrap up the series in Canberra on Wednesday.

Warner and Finch got Australia off to a fanatastic start in the opening game on Friday, putting on 94 for the first wicket in the 32-run victory.

However, both were dismissed in the same over, Warner falling for 46 and Finch for 35 before Australia rebounded to post 8-300.

Warner knows he and Finch have the responsibility to set the platform for big totals, even if it means curbing their natural aggression.

"We've got to take our egos out of it," he said. "If one's going, we've got to rotate the strike and be able to play that second fiddle role.

"It's not about proving anything, you've got to back yourself and you know you can catch up at the end."

Warner has established himself in all three forms of the game for Australia and will play a pivotal role in the upcoming four-match Test series against India as well as next year's 50-over World Cup.

Meanwhile, Finch has been a regular in the one-day side in the past two years and also captained the Australian Twenty20 team in the recent series with the Proteas.

"The biggest thing for me and Finchy is not to expect to always hit the boundaries," Warner said.

"We've got to rotate the strike, pinch the twos when we can and keep the pressure on the bowlers, but not just in a boundary sense.

Manuka Oval is renowned for producing one of the flattest pitches in the country, with more than 600 runs having been scored in last year's one-dayer between Australia and the West Indies.

Warner knows he could be in for a treat, based on his past experiences at the ground.

"I don't mind going down there and playing on flat wickets, they generally produce fantastic wickets down there," Warner said.

"It's obviously a great opportunity for places like Canberra to host cricket games. Hopefully we can win the next game here [in Perth] and wrap things up in Canberra."[

This one-day series is vital preparation for both teams leading into the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in February and March.

"The World Cup is a massive carrot, everyone wants to try and grab that," Warner said.
