ANU skipper Dan Leerdam and Tuggeranong gloveman Tom Vane Tempest were sub-fielders for the Australian Test side as they completed a series whitewash over Sri Lanka this week.

Twenty-year-old batsman Leerdam has long been regarded as one of the capital's brightest young talents but rarely would he have seen himself in the dug out trading banter with the likes of Usman Khawaja, Travis Head and Joe Burns.

The same goes for 21-year-old Tuggeranong opener Vane Tempest, although he did keep Brad Haddin out of the gloves during a Futures League match for the ACT/NSW Country Comets two seasons ago.

They were at opposite ends of their careers when Vane Tempest – who wasn't even born when Haddin first played for the Comets – took the gloves on debut in October of 2016.

But even that might not have prepared him for the experience of a lifetime in the national set-up, watching Australian wicketkeeper and captain Tim Paine lead a series victory.

Sure, they were only running drinks and the occasional pair of gloves as the hosts piled on a mountain of runs, but would you rather run them out anywhere else?

They weren't the only Canberra stars mixing it with cricket's elite as a host of Cricket ACT's best quicks and spinners joined Australia and Sri Lanka's ranks as net bowlers.

Benji Floros, Jarryd Hatton, Michael Ninneman, Praveen Mathai, Brendan Duffy, Shane Devoy, Sam Taylor and Tyler van Luin were all lined up to warm up Australia and Sri Lanka's batsmen before and during the Test.

While some of Canberra's rising stars got the chance to rub shoulders with the Australian team in Canberra, a host of others are preparing to take the famed Sydney Cricket Ground by storm.

Ginninderra skipper Rhys Healy will lead the ACT Aces into the Cricket NSW Regional Bash finals on Tuesday, with the winners of each semi-final to meet under lights at the SCG immediately after.

The Aces will suit up for their a maiden semi-final appearance against fellow Thunder conference contenders Central West Wranglers, while Central Coast Rush will meet Coffs Coast Chargers in the Sixers conference.

Healy will be the key wicket for the Wranglers, having piled on 133 runs at 66.5 throughout three pool games to make himself the tournament's second-leading run scorer.
