Novelty aside, the fact 30,822 filed into Manuka Oval and powered through 300 kegs of beer across four days to see Australia demoralise Sri Lanka cannot be overlooked.
But as we pass the post on Cricket Australia's four-year deal with the ACT government to bring the national side to Canberra, we immediately begin to wonder about what comes next.
Were Australian fans genuinely excited about Canberra's first Test? About the prospect of our world class fast bowling attack terrorising rival batsmen on a deck Usman Khawaja concedes upon which you cannot trust the bounce?
Or was this a game to tick a box?
Maybe we shouldn't fool ourselves thinking this golden moment will change the future. But maybe the novelty is just what we need to keep Canberra fans coming back.
Crowds have dropped to record lows for the Prime Minister's XI, one day of the city's first Test match sold out when CA were banking on three crowds of about 11,000.
Realistically, CA will not bring an Ashes Test to Canberra. The current landscape means the capital will not host a Test every summer. Maybe the rarity of the occasion is just the tonic to keep the crowds coming. But the onus is on the crowds to do just that.

Cairns' last Test came in 2004. The highest crowd the city has drawn for cricket is 8308. Darwin's last came in 2004, with a lower number of punters on hand.
Day two of the Manuka Oval showdown was billed as the first sell-out of Australia's six-Test summer - admittedly in the smallest of the six venues.
Canberra sceptics will point to the low crowd of 2004 on day four, but the series was well and truly wrapped up, kids back at school and parents back at work. Those might not be the only factors at play.
For all the talk about sell out crowds and the buzz around Manuka, those who didn't turn up sent a reminder about the standing of the game.
The first Test sell-out of the summer shows the Australian cricket team has won back the respect of the majority following the sandpaper scandal which caused a major changing of the guard at CA's Jolimont headquarters, however its lingering effects cannot be swept under the carpet.
Fox Sports sent their big guns to the Big Bash with Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist working on the shorter format. Channel 7 was scrutinised on social media with Ricky Ponting watching the Australian Open with David Warner rather than covering the Sri Lanka series.
