Her return couldn't come at a better time as the Meteors attempt to secure their place in the Women's Twenty20 finals in this weekend's final round against Queensland Fire.
The Meteors head to Brisbane knowing a win in either of their two T20 games on Friday and Sunday will cement their spot in the top four.
Browne has been a valuable acquisition in her two previous appearances against Tasmania and the NSW Breakers.
She missed the recent clean sweep against South Australia because of commitments with her Otago team in NZ, but is looking forward to being back among an in-form Meteors side. ''I'm definitely excited,'' Browne said.
''I came over and we took on Tasmania, who were the bottom team, and we had some convincing wins and then took on the top team of NSW and really challenged them.
''The girls had a pretty convincing weekend two weeks ago and this is the good one, this is what sport's about, being challenged against someone of equal talent and come out on top.''
The Fire is above the Meteors on the T20 ladder and boasts several Australian Southern Stars players in its line-up, including captain Jodie Fields, Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Holly Ferling, Kirsten Pike and Melissa Bulow.
It's the perfect opportunity for Meteors fast bowler Rene Farrell to stake her claim for a recall to the national team.
The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Meteors and has already racked up 23 T20 internationals and 23 one-day international appearances for her country, the last of those in 2011.
Browne is a regular on the international scene, having played 122 one-day internationals and 45 T20 internationals for New Zealand.
Browne will be available for the Meteors for the semi-finals and final on February 5 and 7 before returning to represent New Zealand when it hosts the West Indies from February 18.
