Rhys Healy makes history for Ginninderra

That's just the predicament Ginninderra skipper Rhys Healy found himself in after guiding the Tigers to a remarkable five-wicket first innings victory over Queanbeyan at Kippax Oval on Saturday.

But passing Queanbeyan's mark of 329 wasn't enough for Ginninderra coach Michael Delaney - there was another milestone in sight for his captain.

Healy (202 not out) soon posted the first double-century in club history and posted what is believed to be the highest partnership in club history alongside Dylan Faram (97) in a day to remember for Ginninderra, who finished on 5-358.

Only one thing could have made it better - if Healy cracked the 200 barrier with the game still on the line.

"The game was already over at that stage, I was in the 190s and coach Michael Delaney told me to stay out there," Healy said.

"It’s probably not as great as it would have been if the game was still live but it’s a pretty special moment for myself and the club.

"That’s the first time anyone has hit a double hundred, and myself and Dyl Faram set the record for the highest partnership for the club in first grade.

"I know I’ve been on the other end of my fair share of 200 to 300 partnerships, so it was nice to finally be able to inflict one on someone else.

"I have absolutely not hit a double hundred before, so it was good to get there. But I reckon being able to chase down 330 only a few down was probably more satisfying in my eyes because it really shows where we have come as a group."

Queanbeyan had set 329 and the Tigers looked in a world of hurt when they started the day at 2-30 - but Healy was always confident they would be able to pull off the miracle.

"We came in in a bit of a pickle overnight, we didn’t bowl and field as well as we should have last week and we let them get away to 330 when we could have restricted them to under 200," Healy said.

"I was always pretty confident. Kippax flattens out especially after lunch and we’ve got a few pretty handy batsmen. I was pretty confident that a couple of blokes at least would put their hands up.

"At the end of the day it was me and Dyl, but if we had gone out early, there’d be a couple of other blokes there that put their hands up. I was pretty confident in the group that we’d be able to pull it off."

While Healy stole the show with a match-winning double-century, across town it was Tuggeranong Valley skipper Shane Devoy orchestrating the unthinkable.

Devoy blasted 118 not out (127) to give Tuggeranong a memorable one-wicket first innings victory over Western District-UC at Chisholm Oval.

Tuggeranong chased down Wests' imposing total of 352 with Devoy and Adam Onus (2 not out) withstanding a late onslaught to secure one of the club's finest triumphs.

Meanwhile, a Djali Bloomfield five-for (5-49) set up Weston Creek Molonglo's dominant six-wicket win over Eastlake at Kingston Oval.

Creek cruised to 4-127 inside 25 overs on the final day to claim an outright victory and begin their two-day campaign in fashion.
