Usman Khawaja and Joe Burns got among the runs, but Shaun Marsh missed out as the battle for the remaining spots in Australia's revamped Test batting order starts to take shape.

Khawaja scored an unbeaten 111, while Burns retired on 102 as the CA XI (4-325) got in valuable batting practice against New Zealand in the two-day tour match at Manuka Oval on Saturday.
Marsh went for just 11, while Western Australian opener Cameron Bancroft was dismissed for 42.
It's hard to judge the performance of the New Zealand pace attack on a pitch that offered little assistance. The likes of Tim Southee - who was rested after taking 1-28 from 10 overs against the PM's XI on Friday - Trent Boult (0-30) and Matt Henry (0-72) will be more in their element in the three-Test series.
Fellow seamer Doug Bracewell (1-52) was the pick of the bowlers, while off-spinner Mark Craig (1-105) came in for some punishment before getting the wicket of Shaun Marsh.
The Gabba and the WACA will offer plenty of pace and bounce, but it's the prospect of extracting swing from the red ball that will have the Australian top order worried.
Burns has one foot in the door to join a rejigged top six and to build on his form in two Tests against India last summer.
He batted at No. 6 on those occasions, but has since opened the batting alongside David Warner in the one-day international team and also for the CA XI.
"I've been opening for Queensland the last two years in Shield cricket," Burns said. "I feel as an opening batter I've got enough experience to be looked at in that position.
"Saying that, my formulative years were as a middle order batter, so I feel adept in those positions."
Burns made just five for the PM's XI against the swinging pink ball, but looked more assured with the red ball.
"I felt in control with the tempo of my innings, which for me is a big thing with long-form cricket," he said.
"When they were bowling well I was able to weather the storm, and when I felt like there was scoring opportunities I was able to take them and get the innings ticking along. I feel like it's a strength of my game to dictate the scoring."
Bracewell said the New Zealand bowlers would benefit from bowling plenty of overs ahead in testing conditions of next week's four-day tour game in Blacktown.
"It was quite a batter-friendly wicket, I thought the boys put in pretty good efforts to toil away," Bracewell said. "The boys got some good workloads under their belt.
"At one stage, we sort of got [the ball] reversing a little, it didn't hold its shape very long, it got messed up early. We stuck to our plans and the areas we bowled were pretty good, so pretty happy."
Bancroft will be frustrated he didn't cash in after getting away to a solid start.
The 22-year-old wasn't troubled until he nicked a ball from Bracewell through to wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi after an opening partnership of 109.
Voges played well alongside Khawaja until he retired on 33 midway through the second session having made a half century for the PM's XI the night before.
The Marsh brothers - Shaun and Mitch - and Queensland paceman Billy Stanlake were the only three changes to the PM's XI team that lost to New Zealand by 102 runs on Friday.
