Ono will be the first to showcase his talent when he makes the trip down with last season's runners-up the Western Sydney Wanderers in Wednesday night's match against a Canberra Olympic invitational side at the AIS.
Seven days later, it will be Heskey's turn to dazzle the ACT public as the Newcastle Jets face a Canberra National Premier League All Stars side at McKellar Park on August 21.
While both the Wanderers and Jets have yet to finalise their line-ups for their respective games, it's likely the two marquee men will be given some game time in the lead-up to the upcoming A-League campaign.
Heskey arrived in Australia last season with high expectations.
The 35-year-old was one of the leading strikers in the English Premier League during his prime, winning the 2001 FA Cup with Liverpool and making 150 appearances for the Reds.
He was capped a total of 62 times by his country and represented England at the 2002 and 2010 World Cups before joining the Jets last season.
Heskey returned to training with the Jets on Friday after finishing his first season in the A-League as the club's leading goal scorer, netting nine times.
''I've been champing at the bit to come over and start training again,'' Heskey said.
''It was a long break to have, but I needed the break and I can't wait to get going again.
''Last season, I arrived just a week before the season started, so at least I've got more time now to prepare even better.''
Japanese midfielder Ono has been capped 56 times at international level and is regarded as one of the biggest stars in Asian football.
Ono's creativity and vision made him a standout for the Wanderers in their magnificent debut season.
The Wanderers are bringing a strong 23-man squad to Canberra, including new signings Brendon Santalab and Dean Heffernan, and ACT product Nikolai Topor-Stanley.
The Wanderers swept all before them in their inaugural season, attracting sellout crowds on their way to winning the Premiers Plate before losing to the Central Coast Mariners in the A-League grand final.
They will face an Olympic invitational side featuring a cross-section of the best players from the Canberra NPL.
Canberra Olympic president John Athanasiou hoped the Wanderers would become regular visitors to Canberra after two of his club's most promising youngsters, Jakob Williams and Daniel Barac, progressed to their National Youth League team last season.
''It's about trying to create a connection and an annual event between the two clubs,'' Athanasiou said.
''This is not only good for the club, but it's good for football in Canberra.''
