The Raiders will name their team on Tuesday for a last-round clash against the Storm, with Soliola set to make his comeback after being suspended for a late shot on Slater in round 20.

The Raiders will be playing for pride after being knocked out of finals contention, Stuart conceding he felt "empty" after his side slipped out of premiership contention despite a stellar season last year.

Stuart said he will bring back "the old Ricky Stuart" and be harsher on some aspects of the Raiders' play to get the best out of his players and team.

But Soliola's involvement against the Storm is a pressing matter and the coach will give the respected back-rower the choice of playing or not if the attention of a Slater re-match is too overwhelming.

Soliola is one of the most respected players in the NRL and made sure he apologised to Slater after the incident that left the star fullback concussed and unable to remember a State of Origin game.

"There will be a lot of media around the game. To be honest, I'll ask Sia [on Tuesday], 'do you want to go through all of the media attention?'," Stuart said on NRL 360 on Monday night.

"He'll handle it on his ear. The day Sia Soliola joined our club was the day our culture started to change. He's a very, very powerful influence in our team and environment.

"...I'll leave that decision [if he wants to play against the Storm] to Sia, because he's a man I trust."

The Raiders will be licking their wounds when they go to Melbourne after Manly ended their faint finals hopes last weekend.

It was a disappointing end to a disappointing season after the Raiders failed to live up to the hype this year after finishing second on the ladder last year.

The Raiders lost eight games by six points or less, but Stuart said luck would not be used as an excuse in a brutal end of season review.

Stuart said a conversation with former teammate and Storm coach Craig Bellamy convinced him he had be harsh when required.

"Every team has had bad luck. I don't want our players thinking it's bad luck that's cost them this year," Stuart said.

"I want them to know it's me and them. I feel as though we started the season trying to play the game of football our fans wanted us to play and watch. That's ill-discipline.

"At times this year I was trying to keep the peace and the happiness, making players wanting to come to work to learn and try hard more so than being the old Ricky Stuart.

"I had a discussion with Craig Bellamy ... we talk a lot and can be honest. I reckon I've gone back a little bit to being the old Ricky Stuart.

"I've created the environment there at the club where players want to come and play because I've got good staff and they help me create the vision.

"...Now we've got to get serious about where we want to be."

The Raiders haven't made the finals in back to back season since 2002-03 and many believed this would be the year the Green Machine broke its consecutive play-offs hoodoo.

But the Raiders never really hit top gear and by the time they did, it was too late to make a charge to the finals.

Stuart said the review would include looking at his approach to coaching and how the club could improve.

"I feel very empty and disappointed in where we are. There's no one to blame outside myself and the players," Stuart said.

"Empty in the fact that I've got a better football team than where we sit [on the ladder]. But the fact is we are 10th and we're not going to make the top eight.

"I don't feel as though we've controlled our game very well this year ... I don't feel as though we've been mentally tough enough to get into the grind and win the grind."

The Raiders will have the bulk of their squad returning next year and Stuart insists there are only small parts of the game that need to be fixed.

"I'm proud that as a Raiders, we never gave up. We never took the gloves off, we kept fighting, fighting and fighting," Stuart said.

"I probably could have been tougher on certain areas of our game this year, I look back and it burns me at night.

"It will be a brutal review because we have to be very honest about us as a team wanting to go forward. I'm like every coach, I want to win the competition.

"It's not to be this year, and that burns away at all of us."
