Heyman and United teammate Lydia Williams have been involved in the Matildas camp at the AIS this week in preparation for next month's Cyprus Cup.
They would have been excused from the camp had premier United beaten Brisbane Roar in last weekend's semi-final at McKellar Park.
However, a 2-1 loss in wet conditions means United will watch from Canberra while the Roar faces Melbourne Victory in Melbourne in Sunday's grand final.
As much as Heyman enjoys being part of the Matildas, the 25-year-old made it clear where she would rather be this weekend. ''I definitely wanted to be in the grand final to win that, but I still have training with the Matildas, which is a good thing,'' she said. ''Getting that loss then knowing I had to be in camp wasn't the best thing to hear.
''Other than that, I've got to put all that behind me and focus on the Cyprus Cup and get good preparation for the Asian Cup.''
The Cyprus Cup is an invitational 12-team tournament held between March 5-12.
It will be used as a vital lead-up event to the women's Asian Cup in Vietnam in May, where the Matildas are the defending title-holders.
