United will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it kick-starts a crucial month on the road this weekend.

The trip to the Hunter Valley to face the winless Newcastle Jets on Saturday is the first of four straight away games.

That will be followed by fixtures against Perth Glory on December 21, Adelaide United on January 5 and Melbourne Victory on January 12.

US import Fletcher expects United to maintain the same aggressive approach it had employed in its opening three games of the campaign.

''You have to go into each game looking to get three points and have that mentality that you're going to show up and play,'' Fletcher said.

''I don't think you ever want to play conservative, I think that puts you on the back foot.

''You look to get as many points as you can out of the weekend regardless if it's home or away.''

United finally returns to McKellar Park on January 19 against the Lady Reds - its first home match since last weekend's 1-0 loss to Brisbane Roar.

It was the first goal United has conceded in 270 minutes this season after two straight clean sheets against the Roar and the Western Sydney Wanderers.

''Obviously we love being at home, we love our home crowd and it's a great place to play at, but most places we travel to are fun to play at,'' Fletcher said.

''That's one good thing about travelling, you're with the team and it leads to interesting and funny situations.

''You get to spend time together and sometimes as a player I find myself more focused on away games because everything's about the game.

''You have more of a focus on what you're doing because that's what you're there to do.''

Fletcher has been a standout in her first season at United after previous stints in the W-League with Central Coast Mariners and the Victory.

She is one of three Americans in the United side and played in Sweden in the same league as Matildas and United goalkeeper Lydia Williams.

The 29-year-old is relishing her time in the middle of the park for her new team.

''A lot of teams see me as a defender, but whenever I step into the midfield I love that challenge,'' Fletcher said.

''It makes me a better player and allows me to express myself more on the field and get a little bit more involved in the attack and I really enjoy that aspect of it, so I'm having a blast.

''I arrived with Lydia [Williams], so the other girls were giving her hugs and I felt a part of the group straight away.

''That's one of the wonderful things every time I've played in Australia, the girls have been wonderful and they're a good group.''
