If you're Socceroo star Tim Cahill, you use your moment of glory to plug your Byron Bay-based travel agent.

Cahill, whose two goals during the match against Syria kept Australia's World Cup qualification hopes alive, made a "T" sign with his hands after kicking his 50th international goal this week.

But he wasn't calling for a time-out, the 37-year-old Australian captain made the gesture to give his sponsor a shout-out.

Cahill is the small business' newest ambassador and held the pose long enough to show it off to the packed ANZ Stadium and plethora of press parked on the sidelines.

The northern NSW-based start-up confirmed the gesture on its Instagram account by congratulating Cahill for securing the Socceroo's another play-off chance when they go up against Honduras in their next qualifier match.

"Did you catch Tim Cahill, our new brand ambassador, doing the ... 'T' after he scored the winning goal last night? Congratulations Tim!," the holiday agency posted to its 7000-odd followers.

Cahill replied with eight emojis, including two cheeky faces with their tongues sticking out; the kind of expressions usually reserved for blokes on day four of a footy trip who would do anything for a dare or free beer.

He also plugged the company on his own social media platform, writing: "Another chapter written and plenty more to come. Amazing team performance and really proud of everyone tonight, team, staff and fans", before tagging in his sponsor.

Calls and emails by Fairfax Media to the Contiki-for-Yuppies-type business went unanswered on Thursday.

It is the same company that offered NRL star Jarryd Hayne $400,000 to stay with the Gold Coast Titans earlier this year.

Hayne was quick to send his congratulations to his colleague.

Cahill is almost as famous for his goal-scoring celebrations as he is for his actual ball skills. However pundits and viewers were left perplexed after his 13th minute equaliser also resembled a marketing exercise as he marked it with a plane motion similar to Hayne's famous "Hayne Plane".

In 2015 during a match against Kyrgyzstan, he dumped his trademark boxing in the corner move, to impersonating someone reading a book.

Coincidentally the match was played shortly after the release of his children's book and autobiography.

In 2008 while playing for Everton he was forced to apologise for making a handcuff gesture on the pitch, which he dedicated to his older brother Sean.

Sean was arrested in Sydney in 2007 after fleeing Britain after being released on bail following an attack on a man that left the victim partially blind in one eye.
