Kyrgios will restart his season when he leaves Australia next week, determined to make up for a month on the sideline with an elbow injury which has resulted in his world ranking dropping 63 spots.

But the powerful teenager is eyeing off a top 100 berth and is confident he can rediscover the impressive play which rocketed him to fame at the Australian Open in January.

Kyrgios will draw on the swagger and flamboyant style that created unexpected attention, which led to his website crashing when 250,000 fans logged on in less than 12 hours.

Frustrating injuries have limited Kyrgios to just 10 tournaments this year, but he hopes a three-month stint overseas – the longest time away from home in his career – will help him clinch French Open and Wimbledon starts.

The teenager also said he had no fear of being plagued by injuries throughout his career despite battling niggling problems – including his elbow drama and a wrist injury last year – as his body adjusts to a more intense workload.

"I'm still playing fine, I haven't lost anything," Kyrgios said. "I'm probably playing the best I've ever played in the last couple of weeks.

"I definitely think I can compete at the highest level again. The injuries brought me back down to earth a bit with everything that has happened over the last couple of months.

"I'm just trying to soak everything and get back to work. I'm not too worried [about injuries], it's part of tennis. It's just a thing I'm going to have to learn to deal with."

Kyrgios was cleared of nerve damage in his elbow and admits he was "miserable" when he was forced to withdraw from tournaments in the United States.

The unexpected break has given him more time to work on his fitness and conditioning with Tennis Australia staff in Melbourne.

He will fly to the US on Thursday and spend the next 12 weeks regaining match fitness.

His worldwide journey includes his bid to play at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Kyrgios made his grand slam debut at the French Open last year and beat former world No.8 Radek Stepanek, but he missed out on a spot at Wimbledon.

The three-month stint on the road is the longest Kyrgios has been away from home and the former Daramalan College student has organised for his parents, George and Nill, and brother Christos to make fly-in visits.

"It's exciting, but scary at the same time," Kyrgios said. "I get pretty homesick. I'm getting my brother and mum and dad ready to come and keep me company.

"I've been loving training, but competing is what I love and it's exciting to try to get more wins under my belt.

"The first couple of weeks of the injury, I wasn't serving to let the elbow settle down, but now I'm going at 100 per cent.

"The transition into the senior ranks isn't an easy one. It's physical and you're going to get injuries, you've just got to embrace it and be more consistent when you're healthy."

Kyrgios hit a career high world ranking of 157 in February. But he has dropped to 220 after his injury-enforced break.

Kyrgios has played at the French Open, US Open and Australian Open. Wimbledon, regarded as the most prestigious tournament on the world tour, is his next goal.

"I think I'd like to get to the top 100 [this year], that's a good goal to set. But I'm not going to rush back into things," Kyrgios said.

"I have to get my confidence back and do what I love. If the wins come, that's a bonus.

"Everyone works towards the grand slams. If I could get the opportunity again at the French Open and Wimbledon, that would be a dream come true.

"The French Open is where it all started, I'm excited to get back there and show what I can do and I think that's where I belong."
