The ACT Court of Appeal has dismissed the long-running challenge to the ACT government's approval for a major supermarket to be built as part of a redevelopment of the Giralang shops.

The court on Friday dismissed the appeal, brought by local operators of the IGA supermarkets at Kaleen and Evatt, against then Planning Minister Simon Corbell's approval for Woolworths to open a supermarket in Giralang in 2012.
While the ACT Supreme Court dismissed the original challenge against the redevelopment approval in 2012, the High Court later ruled the supermarkets did have legal standing to challenge the decision.
Despite that, the ACT Court of Appeal on Friday dismissed the final appeal after a hearing in late July last year.
The court dismissed the appeal as it failed to prove Mr Corbell had failed to provide procedural fairness to the appellants, nor had he failed to take into account any matters when approving the development.
A statement from the two IGA supermarket operators said they were disappointed in the decision but were "pleased to resolve and settle" the dispute "prior to the decision being handed down".
"This resolution has ensured that the matter will not need to be appealed once more to the High Court," they said.
"The operators of the existing supermarkets at Kaleen and Evatt have said they are very happy with the settlement."
