While one person wonders if it's the result of an "excel error", most Canberrans have responded with pride at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development dubbing their city the leader of wellbeing in Australia.

The data boffins even said the bush capital was equal in terms of wellbeing with Western Norway or New Hampshire, and received perfect scores on crime, average household disposable income and voter turnout.
There was, however, a down-side to the report: the territory pumps out more carbon emissions than six other states and territories.
The vast majority of people on social media welcomed the OECD's announcement saying they’d always known Canberra was the best place to be. Some however expressed cynicism, saying the capital was great as long as you could afford to live in it.
"It was a difficult place to live with a household income of less than $50,000. Beautiful, but very expensive," one user said. Another chimed in saying, "It’s too cold here and houses are waaaaaay overpriced for what Canberra has to offer – it’s quite sterile too".
Other social media users had a few issues with Canberra’s climate and topography, which they city can hardly do anything about.
John Pollock used his account to say "if you like the idea of having your extremities frozen off you may like Canberra". While the weather this week gives Mr Pollock’s caution some currency, others had bones to grind with our inland location.
Shirley Peters said "Canberra is lovely … but no beach.”
Perhaps Ms Peters is yet to discover the many swimming locations on the Lake Burley Griffin foreshore available when the lake is not covered in inch-deep green algae.
Aaron Martin even used Facebook to describe the capital as an awful place to live "unless you have a crap load of money" while another user described the announcement as the result of an "excel error".
But by and large, the response was positive with Canberra praised as "the Jewel in the Commonwealth Crown" and "by far the best place to live in Australia".
