AN ACT driver who allegedly reached speeds of 140km/h when fleeing police has been caught and charged, and his son and nephew filmed the pursuit on a mobile phone.

The police pursuit from Goulburn to Collector started at 3pm on Friday as Goulburn police were conducting a registration check on a Holden Astra travelling south on the Hume Highway.
The check revealed the registration plates belonged to another vehicle and had expired. Police tried to stop the car, which had two teenage passengers.
Police will allege the driver turned off the highway into Mazamet Road. The driver then did a U-turn, re-entered the south-bound lanes of the Hume Highway and drove at speeds of up to 140km/h.
Officers deployed road spikes just south of Goulburn but needed a second road spike location on the Federal Highway at Collector. Both front tyres of the Holden were deflated and the vehicle stopped. The three occupants were arrested after the driver allegedly resisted police.
Police will allege that the two passengers in the vehicle, the driver's 16-year-old son and 18-year-old nephew, filmed the chase on a mobile phone, which was seized as evidence.
The 36-year-old Banks man was taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit, speeding, unlicensed driving, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, use of unauthorised number plates, possessing property stolen outside NSW and resisting arrest. He was refused bail and appeared at Goulburn Bail Court on Saturday, where he was refused bail and was ordered to reappear on Monday.
The two teenagers were released pending further inquiries as investigators believe the vehicle has been involved in several other offences.
