After last year's major recognition of the 10th anniversary milestone, this year's anniversary is set to be a low-key affair, with no official ceremony planned.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a top temperature of 40 degrees for Canberra, with the fire danger listed as severe.
Four people died, 435 people were injured, 487 homes were destroyed and 70 per cent of the ACT was burnt in the firestorm.
The four people who died were Dorothy McGrath, 77; Alison Tener, 38; Doug Fraser, 61 and Peter Brooke, 73.
