One lucky punter took home $1 million after winning the Monday and Wednesday Lotto division in December last year from a ticket bought at Gungahlin Centre News.
Then another Canberran found himself or herself a $50 million richer after scooping the Powerball in May.
Gungahlin Centre News owner Rudy Lu believes he is running the luckiest newsagency in Canberra.
"We have lots of regular customers who come here all of the time. Some even come from other suburbs, up to 10 kilometres away," he said.
There were nine division one winners in NSW Lotteries across the ACT in the past year, who took home nearly $90 million in prize money.
NewsXpress Woden sold the next highest winning ticket, according to the NSW Lotteries' annual breakdown of its major prizewinners, landing its buyer $30 million.
Another Woden newsagency, Thistle Kiosk, sold the third-highest winning ticket, at just over $4.5 million.
Evatt Newsagency, Lucky Lotto in Tuggeranong, Erindale Newsagency and Charnwood Newsagency each notched down a million-dollar winner for the year.
Dickson Newsagency rounded out the top nine, with one Lotto Strike winner walking away with close to $425,000.
But it might not be a newsagency where you buy your winning lottery ticket next year.
A controversial trial of lottery product sales in five Canberra Woolworth petrol stations began earlier this year.
While Mr Lu isn't sure what the secret to his exceptional luck is, he's sure the increased availability of lottery tickets outside of newsagencies won't hamper it too much.
"It might cause some customers not to come into the store but newsagencies are still the first choice for people buying lottery tickets," Mr Lu said.
In other words, he's happy to take his chances.
