Platforms eight, nine and 10 will be closed from 10am on Tuesday to allow for "unforeseen" work to be carried out, said ACTION's chief operating officer Bren Burkevics.

"Bus services that would usually operate from these three platforms will be relocated to the bus layover between the Woden bus station and the Hellenic Club. Buses servicing all other platforms at Woden Bus Station will not be impacted," Mr Burkevics said.

"The temporary relocation of platforms 8, 9 and 10 is expected to remain in place for two to three days while the maintenance work is completed."

A spokesman from ActewAGL confirmed the work was related to a power outage on Monday which affected more than 90 businesses and homes in the suburbs of Woden and Phillip.

A cable fault in Bowes Street caused the feeder to trip, later investigations revealed.

The spokesman said the work was prioritised due to the cable's proximity to the Westfield Woden shopping Centre and The Canberra Hospital.

ACTION will provide temporary seating, shelter and additional lighting for night time bus services during the closure.

A shuttle bus will also be available to transport elderly passengers and people with disabilities to and from the relocated platforms and the eastern entrance of Westfield Woden.

A $3.25 million facelift for the bus interchange was announced in last year's ACT budget.

A new set of stairs and lift was part of the planned revitalisation.

A revised ACTION timetable is now operating for the holiday period until January 8.
